Octagonal Trophy MAG
Sitting on the table violently attacked by the sun
I am showered withits brilliant reflection
Like a cubical room with the windows in place ofwalls
Filled with diamonds at noon on a hot summer day
Octagonal with tightedges hugging
A disproportionate stop sign
Standing high and proud on arewarding base
A trophy of archives stashed in my head
In the middle, twoengraved creatures float flawlessly
Green in color with black dots mixedin
They stare wide-eyed with a constant glare
Above these creatures sittheir names
Engraved with a marshmallow color
Only found spread out on abirthday cake
Savored by all that indulge
Below, a radiant collage of neonleaves
Brings my creatures to life
In loving memory of my first twofrogs
Kermit and Jumpy will always be remembered by
This personal piece ofart I hold so dear.
I owe my lifelong love and obsession for frogs
Tothese two amphibians that swept me off my feet
As I walked down the cruddyaisles of the local pet store.
The store showed me nothing but dirt anddust
Yet an outrageous bomb of beauty attacked me from
A tank a couple feetup.
The beauty came home with me that night
And transformed into a lovenever before felt.
One year later this familiar love left me.
A hot summerday
A bedroom with no air conditioning
Two frogs floatedupside-down
Their white bellies staring sadly at me
The heat had engulfedthem with no despair to be found.
