She Is
Sleeping soundly
Under covers of emerald,
Fingers curled and pressed
Against leafy coverlet.
Golden hair
Spilling down,
Like spools of fine, flaxen thread.
She sleeps in forever, eternal
Quiet,
In diurnal dream.
In night and day,
Shrouded in sunlight,
She is far away.
Amongst stars and skies,
As voices grow,
She is lifted high.
A song,
A soft, euphonious tune.
She is an ambition,
A child's fantasy.
She is an unspoken love,
A mournful, sweet elegy.
She is a prayer,
Lifted up to heaven.
A faint cry of a woman
With a little girl's heart.
She is a hope
In the depths of our souls.
And she sleeps.
And she waits.
And now she is in God's arms.
