Life is Like the Ocean
Life is like the ocean
Peaceful, patient, perfect
Coming in slow, small, swells
Gliding across the water
The waves slowly parting
The hull, easily cutting open the water
Going into the abyss of the ocean
Departing into nothingness of blue
Life seems tranquil
Problems are low
Solutions are easy
Treading easily above the water
I could do this forever
I feel sightless
It hits suddenly
As the storm comes
The peace flees
So do the seas
The waves reach the heavens
Towering over the earth
Struggles hit me in the face
Like the water hits the shoreline
The waves keep coming
It's too late to escape
My head fighting to be above water
Once it is for that split second
I gulp as much air as I possibly can
I know I won't be back above anytime soon
The stress comes over me
Too much homework, so little time
From school
To basketball
To volleyball
There’s no end
I just want to get back
To when the waves were shallow
The tides were small
Where life was easy
And where my head was fully out of water

Life can sometimes feel perfect and then a storm comes in the blink of an eye. I feel like this very often. I have times when it feels like I have no time just to breathe because I am always doing things and it gets overwhelming. In those moments, all I want is to get back to a place where life was easy and when I have the time to take a big deep breath.
