I used to be a bright sunflower yellow,

now I am a sun-bleached white.

I watch, that is all I can do,

watching the inside as well as the out.

I watch people walking the streets daily,

talking, laughing, and sharing stories.

I watch the people who come and go from me,

living in but never staying.

I watch as the crows circle,

they have always loved my house.

But now I only rarely watch anything,

people have left, streets are empty, the birds have gone.

I am lonely, there is nothing alive here anymore,

and I fear I won't be either soon.
