Volleyball
Volleyball is a way of life.
It’s my life.
When that ball rockets over the net,
Sweat trickles down the side of my neck,
Sprinting over, diving for it thinking ‘Don’t let it hit the floor.’
Bounces hard off my forearms, lightly sailing to the
Setters ready hands. Flies high in the air to
The outside hitter, she jumps like a kangaroo
And smacks it down the opponents throats
I feel this is where I belong.
Being on the court,
This is where I don’t have to think
About life, about anything.
Just me, the ball and my team.
