Across The Lake

As I stand here across the lake
Counting the stars across the sky
Reeling in the scene before me
Over my head that great pale light resides
So high in the sky illuminating the night
Sitting so far from an arms reach
That pale beautify light that's always there
Hanging in the sky despite the darkest of nights
Evermore so distant from my grasp
Looking down upon me from across the lake
Across an endless sea of space
Keen on evading myself forevermore
Even against my every plea
