The Picture of You
I close the door
And the first thing I see
Is the picture of you,
Your perfect brown eyes
Staring back at me
With a warm smile on your face.
I turn it face-down
And lie on my bed,
But when I close my eyes
The picture is still there,
Mocking my pain.
I miss you with all my heart,
But I had said I never wanted
To see you again.
I keep reminding myself
That it’s for the best
As silent tears start
To roll down my face.
