Summer Love
I remember those nights that passed in a summer haze, when he brought wildflowers and we’d wade barefoot through a shady creek. I remember when we’d eat strawberry ice cream, dripping in the golden sun.
He tasted like orange zest and chocolate, like he had it all figured out. He smelled like sea breeze and cedar, like he planned it all perfectly. His love was desperate and sweet, like I was the only one he wanted. That was when I still wanted to tattoo his emerald eyes to the back of my mind and see silver streak his hair.
I remember the warm nights when we’d stare into the infinence of cobalt stars and whisper words like honey. He was my world, until “my world” betrayed me, spinning off its axis, crashing and burning; a meteoroid streaking fire across the sky.
