"Life doesn't give you seatbelts!"-Batman, The Lego Movie<br /> “Never close your lips to those whom you have already opened your heart.”--Charles Dickens

She waits only, sole, alone

On the sandy beach;

Staying for the man she loves

Ling’ring out of reach.

She caps her pen, and packs her bag

Taking salty air

Then fing’ring love upon her hand

She flies away from there.

She asks for naught, and stays for naught

On my rocky beach,

But steals a look back at that shore:

Waiting out of reach.

The author's comments:

In Latin, similar to Spanish, the word "una" means "one". I carry it a little further, using the definition of "solus-a-um" which translates to "only, sole, alone". This poem is exactly that: a reflection on loneliness, in the form of the hopeful lover, Una.
