Why?
You look at me as if I am different
Why?
I still have one heart, 10 toes and 10 fingers, and a brain
I may look different, but don't we all?
I am still human, I breathe air and eat food
I make mistakes, but everyone does
I go through tough times, but I also go through good times
I have all five senses, and all the different moods you do
I am able to learn and to grow
But I still wonder . . .
Why?
You call me an alien
You put us behind walls
Why?
Have I done something wrong? Am I an offense to you?
Why?
I don't understand
Why? Why? Why?

When I wrote this poem, I was thinking about all the immigrants and all the people being treated differently due to where they come from. I put myself in the shoes of these people. By blood I am Mexican so I have seen the struggles and how people treat immigrants differently.
