Ode to my Baby Brother
I remember the day I saw you
Swaddled into a ball
And if I'm going to tell the truth
I thought you were a doll
I remember our Mom telling me
About how hard she prayed
For God to give us a little boy
And then you came our way
Tiny body, one big cry
You waltzed into the nest
Chubby hands and big bright eyes
You always were the best
Suddenly, without us knowing
Time was flying, and you were growing
Soon you became one year old
How fast you crawled about!
Already curious about the earth
That, we had no doubt
Then more years passed, you grew some more
And then you became three
There was nowhere we could keep you out
Feeling oh so free
More years went by, and you were five
We really couldn't believe it
How with each little passing day
You grew more independent
You grew and changed, but it still stands
You are the best brother in the land
Now we sit here in the present
And now your age is seven
We never really seemed to cease
To praise this gift from Heaven
You're in school, learning new things
How to count and read and write
You improve every single day
You are so very bright
I know I've said it many times
But know that this is true
No matter what the world may bring
I'll never stop loving you
And as each day turns to another
Forever you will be my brother

I just love my brother. I've loved him since I met him. He really is a gift from God.
