Two Contradictory Arms
They are the only ones I need around.
I am the one they choose to keep;
Two helpful arms with guiding hands, but different surfaces.
Two helpful arms swinging open new doors, good and bad.
Two choices and two consequences.
They stay with me, but do I need them staying?
The right is incredible, it makes me smile and puts happiness in my heart,
But leaves when I am no longer needed,
and the love is no longer felt.
Why aren’t you with me?
The left and I will clash but will say,
I am here even though we fight and promises me.
No, no you are not, I think.
But I settle.
When the hurt is too much,
When I feel they can’t see, I know I am right.
The need is not there.
Two arms I hold to my side.
Two arms, I want desperately to let go of.
Two arms I won’t let leave.
