Where I'm From
I am from sewing needles
Patch working the make shift clothes on my back
From the non-believers
That taught me faith.
I am from all the secret handshakes
A new one for each corner
From comforting teddy bears
And overly ripe bananas
I am from the shattered glass
I tried to piece together like a puzzle
From the falling leaves of our
Overbearing elm tree
I am from organic junk food.
From the rainbow crayons
Each one as useful as the next.
I am from each memory or picture
Hanging out to dry.
