superman
Swift and gentle as a lovers caress,
The bullet grazed his neck.
His thoughts flashed to his exquisite wife and precious children.
Would he have a chance?
A chance to say goodbye and that he loves them?
Or even a chance to live?
As he lay there dying,
He pondered what it took,
What it took to be a hero.
It took bravery, perseverance, devotion, and most of all,
The ability to sacrifice everything for your country in an instant.
He possessed each of these things,
To his kids he was superman,
He was their
Hero.
