You’ll Never Know Until You Leave
How great is this place
we call
school?
The halls are cramped,
the freshmen,
aggravating.
The fountains that
supposedly contain
water,
instead hold a dirty liquid
which smells slightly
of
Urine.
The books are
beat-up,
written on,
broken.
You see the same
people
day after day after day…
What’s to miss?
But as I walk these halls,
I remember.
That was my freshman homeroom,
over there is where Eddy spewed
Monster
all over Maria.
That’s my sophomore year locker…
HEY! Who scrubbed my name off the front of it?!?
Memories overwhelm me,
this sea of people,
wave after wave,
face after face, crashing upon
each other in hurried attempts
to be less late
to class.
These are the people I know.
I’ve watched many of them
Grow.
From elementary school playgrounds,
to here.
And I’ve grown with them.
I walk these halls,
And I smile.
