Winter
When winter comes
The earth takes one last deep breath
The flowers pause
The animals stand still
They look up
At the sun
And feel the warmth of the last day
Winter comes
The ground is cold
The earth has gone to sleep
Snow drifts
Like tears from the sky
Kissing the cheeks of the children
Soothing cold cheeks
When winter goes
Earth shakes off its
Cold blanket
Reaches arms to the sky
As flowers grow
The Earth does not scar
When winter goes
But knows
Winter comes
And winter goes
