Do You Remember?
Do you remember?
The good old childhood days?
Games of tag and hide-’n-go-seek?
Playing “house” and coloring outside the lines?
Of catching fireflies at night and frogs by the pond?
Of going out at first light and out-side ‘till dark-
And we got called in to bed?
Do you remember?
I do.
Do you remember?
All those “crushes”?
All the dances we went to and all the gossip of High School?
Of all the “last minute- jump in the car!” slumber parties?
Just us two-
Where we stayed up all night and counted all the times we yawned?
Because our friend was the answer to everything?
Do you remember?
I do.
Do you remember?
Those times we fought?
Gave the “cold shoulder” and said “talk to the hand?”
When harsh words were spoken and regretted?
When it felt hard to apologize and admit you were wrong?
But gave in because I missed you?
Do you remember?
I do.
Do you remember?
All the tough stuff?
Of friends moving, pets dying, and losing someone you love?
Of all the secrets, dreams, and promises we’ve shared?
When we “crossed out hearts and hoped to die”?
When I needed you most you were always there?
Do you remember?
I do.
