The Meaning of Life, Seen Through Closed Eyes
Why should I bother myself with the trifling things in life?
To waste away the hours of this limited existence.
Shockwaves course through my being whenever I think about our Reason.
My mind weighs a ton and my body acts in kind.
My life is an open book.
Its pages, blank.
They sit there waiting to be filled.
My blood, the ink used to mark the pages.
Questions buzz in my head like a swarm of angry spirits, begging to be set free from their imprisonment.
“How long do we have left?”
I know that human existence is only about self-preservation.
No one may even care what happens to other people as long as THEY survive through it all.
The blind mask of justice shall not reign in our hollow halls, built among the crushing pillars of time, ever
growing yet ever shrinking.
Some might say too much, and yet not enough is said at all.
They risk exposing our existence in this world that we live in.
How ironic.
We were given this place by a loving creature yet we are bent on destroying it all the same.
Whether intentionally or not, we are the ones to blame for our imminent destruction.
There can be no one else to charge for such a tragedy.
The way of life is long and hard to travel.
People are doomed to die, nations are meant to be toppled, even the lands upon which
we now stand is
fated to be reduced to ash and dust.
We must embrace this knowledge and live up to our expectations.
But how can we?
That is the core question.
Only so much can be learned.
The created must someday protect their creator.
But how can we protect something while we destroy it at the same time?
How can we save ourselves from…well, ourselves?
The black scythe of Death is at our doorstep.
We cannot resist, but some may try.
Those of us who see Death as an enemy will be crushed.
Those who seek Death shall be welcomed with arms flung wide.
We must believe that the pain we may feel is nothing.
We must survive through it.
After all, isn’t that what we were built to do?
Survive?
Someday we will all be reduced back to common animals.
Our primal instincts will come to call and swiftly take reign over our judgment.
God save us from that day.
From now to the end of Eternity, may we not seek to destroy ourselves from the inside out.
“Keep your eyes on me, now we roam the edge of Hell.
Dear my love, sweet morning light, wait for me you’ve gone much farther, too far”
We all must one day roam across the edge of Hell.
The light is covered by dark storm clouds.
Threatening to pour a deluge of pain and sorrow upon the unwary.
The weak may not make it, the strong are reduced to trembling psyches.
This cloak and daggers act must stop now.
We must face our destiny with an open mind.
We must prove ourselves by our blood, bone, and flesh.
We must EARN our right to exist in this place.
We must…or else…
“When I see the sky in front of me, I wanna’ hear a still small voice, following me home, I’m found out, I’m found out.”
