A Woman
It was not a story, her life.
It was full of pain and strife.
There was no happy ending to the tale.
She was living, LIVING
Hoping that today- she wouldn’t fail.
Her heart thumped as she dove headfirst into trouble.
Willing to do anything to save her friends; on the double
Her life was as dark as night,
And yet; she came running, running.
Running, as if she could escape her internal plight.
She tells herself, “It’s in their best interest. I’m doing the best I can.”
But her world is a poorly built dome.
That collapses with a single blow.
Boom! Boom!
It falls, the screech of failure, crashing to the ground; nowhere to go.
Oh, if only they knew, the battles that she fought.
Every day, a war raging in her thoughts.
She loves her friends, with a fiery passion,
She’ll keep them safe, forevermore.
No matter what she must do, she’ll protect them with all her actions.
Her name will not be remembered for the centuries.
Perhaps a gravestone of hers will stand, withering away
A memory of her and her worthy deeds.
For she is a woman. A woman.
And she will always be.
