On Purpose

You’re my inspiration,
My yearning desire to describe.
I hunt for words to explain,
How you make me feel alive.
You’re the reason I wake up in the morning,
But stay awake at night,
My narrow particular word choice,
And my broadening insight.
You’re my constant muse,
My literary aid,
You can be the desk lamp,
And I can be the shade.
When I write this line down,
Know I write because of you,
Everything’s illuminated,
And your shining through and through.
