I’ve been told
That in the day
The jaguars sleep in the trees
Paws hung
Head between branches
Tail twitching
So slowly

Spots shining in beams
Of sun
Where the canopy is broken

They say that you can call up
And bring the beast to life
Heaving its head
Against gravity
To acknowledge the intrusion
Then grin
And sleep
Waiting for the sun to set

And the tables to turn.

Love the ending! It's very powerful; I love the acknowledgement of the intrusion, yet the knowledge that the jaguar will soon become the hunter. Good job! :D
