ode to the sand
sticking to my body,
your coarse skin brushes against me.
i can’t seem to let you go.
to tear you off of me would take years.
you find your way into my heart, mind, and my food
crunching on a chip which is tougher than before.
i love you i really do,
you bring out the best in me,
but when i was with him
you brought out the worst in me.
my skin didn’t glow and you didn’t leap away from my body
when you saw him leaning in.
did you really have to be so close to me that whole time?
you drove us apart.
yet he still loves you the same,
and greets you everyday.
he barely says hello to me.
