For A Minute
I see you in the hall and my heart breaks.
I notice you coming toward me.
You ask me what’s up.
My eyes sadly trace your face.
I soak up every second that I’m with you.
I smile, but behind it, my walls
I’ve worked so hard to build
Crumble.
For a minute, my want for you returns.
For a minute, I gaze into those eyes.
For a minute, I want to shout “I LOVE YOU!”
For a minute, I pretend everything is alright.
And then I walk away
And the never ending pain engulfs me
Once again.
