I Hurt Myself To See If I Still Feel

In the U.S., it's estimated that one in every 200 girls between 13 and 19 years old, or one-half of one percent, cut themselves regularly.

Those who cut comprise about 70 percent of teen girls who self injure.
•
90% of self-injury individuals begin harming themselves during their teen years or younger.
•
40% of all individuals who commit self-injury type behaviors are males
•
Almost 50% of cutters or self-injury individuals have reported being sexually abused
•
13% of 15 to 16-year-olds have deliberately harmed themselves.
•
It is estimated that 1 in 200 girls have cut themselves.
