When people talk about discrimination, race and gender come to mind. However, being discriminated on your beliefs is something I have personally encountered. I am a proud atheist, and don't believe in the existence of god or anything like that. I am Indian and therefore, I don’t believe in my religion either.

But being friends with a bunch of girls who are god-devotees can be difficult. We're still friends, but whenever the topic of god comes up its like world war 3 - sort of. The thing about atheists is that, we don't really care. I mean we don't go up to everyone telling them that god doesn't exist - join the movement. We do the complete opposite, and mind our own business and continue with our beliefs. And still atheists are looked down upon, and why? Just because we don't believe in god doesn't mean that we aren't human who don't have value, morals and emotions.

Another profoundly stupid misconception is that if you’re an atheist that means you are on science’s side. And hey, maybe some atheists do believe in science and there is nothing wrong with that. But some of us, don’t really care about science or religion, and yet are simply living our lives and trying to make our way through.

Now, let’s go into some of the responses of theists. Whenever me and my friends have a discussion about god, they always say that watch god will know you didn’t love him. They also say that god tells us to do this this, and not to do this this, and thus, this and this will happen when you are with me in heaven. Ok first of all, does god come and chat with u while you’re brushing your teeth? I thought so. So please, if you are trying to have a discussion with me, than do not say god said this cuz first of all I think you are a bit dillusional. Now if you say, that in our holy book this and this is said, and sure I will take that in because as an Indian I have a holy book, so do Muslims and Christians and probably more. And also, just because I don’t believe in god means I’m going to hell before I pay my sins? Really god, that’s some anger problems you have. I mean think about it, theists say that god loves every human being no matter their race gender or religion, right. So if we put this in human standards, if you really love someone (think about a family member that you cherish, for me my mom) than can u possibly send them to a place where they will be tortured with fire and what not for not believing in you? Does that makes any sense, - that answer is no.

I am, actually sick and tired of the constant discussions where everyone tries to prove me wrong. Like for instance, I’m in my English class talking to my group about god and they don’t mind because they are theists but they value my opinion a little. But a girl sitting near us heard me remark for not believing in god, and she went off. Her name was Fatima and frankly I never liked her. But for her to go on and on about how much proof there is and blah blah, made me like her even less. I DO NOT need explanations, I believe in what I believe and nothing can change it? Than why, please do explain, do people come and give me lectures when I really don’t care? I mean do I go to you god lovers and blab about how there is no god, no I don’t. Because I value their opinion.

To end this article, I just want to say that not all theists are like that. I know a lot of people go believe in god who don’t mind my belief and do not come up and say to me that you will go to hell. We respect each other because we both know that it’s all about faith. Religion isn’t a proven discovery. Both theists and atheists do only one thing – believe. I believe there is no god, theists believe there is god. To argue is completely absurd because neither or can win without proof. And the thing is there is no proof. And now theists might say they have their holy book, but books aside they cannot be reliable. This controversy can go on and on, but the point is it’s all a matter of faith. We should all learn to love each other as humans, not hate for different opinions.

p.s- for those theists who are offended by reading this article

I want theists and atheists to look at that picture, and know that no matter what we believe in, we are still humans and should come together and create love over hate.

Thanks for the comment, and yeah that was a mistake, im hindu. But we do have a holy book but it's unlike the bible and koran. It's more of this speech.

Being Indian isn't a religion, so therefore, you do not have a holy book. :) Hindu is. Maybe that's what you meant?

Also, I think this sort of downgraded into a rant near the end. So, maybe if you could list your points clearly?

And many, many atheists' reply to religion is "science". Which is probably why people generalise on that front. :)
