"the only thing to fear, is fear itself."- theodore roosevelt

The way I see it is when you go through something that changes you and your perspective on life, one of two things will happen:
Your faith will either become stronger than it was,
Or you will question what you once believed were true.
I’ve seen people who have been through the worst in life, yet they think that’s what god intended for them. But if he wanted you to live happy would he not take away things that are so precious to you? Would he not see the troubles and think maybe this is too much for them to handle? If he really cared so much why do you think such world problems such as the holocaust, the dropping of the atomic bomb in Japan, the genocides in Africa, tsunamis, terrorist bombings, and earthquakes that happened in Haiti are still happening?

Yes, I know that some problems are our fault because of the human race and our small minds. But what if god made such problems for humans?

Now people are afraid of people in the Middle East because of some drastic measures they use to get their point across, take Muslims for example:
Their faith leads them to believe that Muhammad sent the prophecy from Allah, which is now the religion called Islam. Did anyone ever realize that this could possibly be what god intended for us all along? Is it what people really hear when they say god told them that? Or is it just their own insanity?

I personally do not believe in god. Even though I was brought up in the Jewish religion. I choose not to believe in a man who lives in the sky. To me it’s just a make believe story told by people who were crazy. I do believe in a higher power. And people say well that’s like god but to me “god” is too strong of a word to use, I also believe in little things from different religions. I don’t think I should have to limit myself to just one thing:
Why can’t I believe in reincarnation and karma from the Buddhists?
Or heaven and hell from the Christians? To me it’s just a way to make people feel secure, So that they always feel like there is a holy man protecting them 24/7.

God is such an unlimited word. It’s used in so many different texts, phrases and sentences throughout the world. But it’s taken in and consumed by so many people that it’s almost like it’s lost its meaning. The meaning of a savior. The meaning of life. Of the world. Of god.

Don’t just follow the way the wind blows. Don’t be inhaled by society and be forced to think things that you don’t like. You always have a choice. And open your minds to new ideas, cultures, and beliefs in the world. Because those who are knowledgeable, are the powerful.

Thank you very much for replying to that. I am unbelievably happy that God has reached you in this new way and given you new hope and a new life. It's awesome to hear about someone coming to this point in their relationship with God :)

I haven't replied to a comment in a long time but I feel yours was worth repling to. When I wrote this I was in a bad place, and at the time it's what I believed. Now looking back when I wrote this almost three years ago, I blamed God for my hardships. whilst now I thank him, and I fully believe in his presence. Now I thank him for all my troubles because  I was being tested and have come out on the other side; a better side, a side with God.

Hey, I guess I just wanted to say I saw something about you having a rough life in your comments below. I'm not about to overlook that. I just wanted to let you know where God was. God was watching you the whole time, loving you, trying so hard to get to you in order to comfort you and help you. During these trials in your life, I just wanted to know, did you ever try talking to God? Did you try depending on Him? That's all He was really waiting for. The bible says if you have the faith of a mustard seed you can move mountains. Having faith that God will help you through your trials is the key to getting through them.

Pretty poor knowledge too. "I'm naked, and she's naked. We're both naked, and now we need clothes." It's such a revelation. I think they should have gotten a refund.

Doesn't that say something about the way knowledge and religion are related? It wasn't called the fruit of sin.

It's interesting, however, that they gained knowledge, and that's why they were kicked out.

Well, I'm a Christian so I really disagree with you, but you're a good practical writer I think. Oh and one thing that bothers me...capitalize God. You capitalized Muhammad and Allah, please capitalize God, too. It's His name.

I agree that sin did make the bad stuff happen. Cuz when Adam and Eve were placed on Earth, everything was perfect. All they had to do was leave the tree alone, and get on with their life. God was closer to them then ever, but they chose to run from Him. All because they wanted the tree of good and evil.

God doesnt want things bad to happen, although anything bad he can change to good.

Christianity was never a new religion. God and Jesus have always been. So in a sense, the Apostles were never spreading a "new" religion, just one that the Gentiles (non-Jews) had never known before. And yes, many people thought they were crazy.  In fact so many people thought they were crazy and evil, that all but one of the Apostles were martyrs. Now you're probably saying to yourself, well, why would God, if He's so loving, why would He allow that to happen? Because God's all knowing. He knew that people would reject Jesus, and in turn, reject His followers. He never promised anything would be easy. In fact He promises hardships for those who choose to follow Him. And He also never promised that He would solve everyone's problems or keep them out of danger. Christians are dieing everyday from car crashes, murder, drive-bys, freak accidents. God never promised that He would stop all of that. Because it was Adam and Eve's decision. God told them that the moment they disobeyed Him, they would die. And they did. Not physically, but spiritually. Because they sinned, they could no longer be immortal, because sin corrupts and destroys the human body. That's why we have cancer, diseases and ultimately death. It was none of God's doing, but sins. Sin also gives people the drive to sin. That's why there's murder. That's why there's bank robbers, embezzlers and liars. Because when Adam and Eve sinned (which was passed down to their children and so forth), they not only inherited sin, but the want-to to sin. Why on earth would people do things that would send them to prison or worse if they didn't want to? Or if they didn't think that it was fun? They wouldn't. Sin wouldn't be a problem if no one wanted to sin. But then why, when you tell a three year old not to touch the remote, why do they always go over and touch it? Even though it means they get in trouble? Because of sin. And also because of sin, we have lost something and gained something else. We've lost the right to Heaven and gained access to Hell. In fact the last is our only choice. Because of sin, we no longer are allowed into Heaven because God is perfect. He's holy and can have nothing to do with sin. Now, here's the problem. God created us with a soul. He created an eternal soul, one that would live on forever, unlike what most people think. But if, because we've all sinned, we're not allowed into Heaven, what's going to happen to those who are not saved (Christians)? There is only one place where we as sinners may pay our punishment for breaking God's law/sinning: the eternal flames of Hell. Hell was originally created for Satan and his angels, but once we as humans became sinners, Hell became a place for us to pay our eternal punishment. Now you may be thinking that God is cruel and why anyone ever want to follow Him. Well, everyone on earth who is a Christian follows Him for the same reason. For what He did next: God never planned on His creation being sent to Hell. He never wanted that. But there was only one way to pay the punishment of sin, other than Hell. And that is a perfect, sinless sacrifice. Jesus. Look at it this way, you're a criminal about to be executed for your crime. Someone in the world loved you so much that they didn't want you to die. So, even though they had not done the crime you had, they asked to take your place and you, instead of death, are set free. You are the one about to be executed. Jesus is that perfect, sinless sacrifice who was willing to take your place. He died on the cross, even though, because He is God, had never sinned. He did that because not only did He love the whole world and every person in it, He loved you. As He died, He was thinking of you. He knew that by dieing, you could go and live with Him in Heaven when you die. But even though He took the punishment you deserve for breaking God's law, there is still something you must do. Not good works, not baptismal. You must believe what I just told you, and you must repent (ask forgiveness and turn away from) of your sins. Don't think it is easy, because it's not. In fact it's the hardest, most important decision you will ever make. I'm sorry that something happened to you when you were a child, I truly am. But think about this: Did you ever wonder if there was a reason? What if God allowed something to happen to you, so that you would see that you need Him? You obviously didn't die, so what if God was showing you grace? He may have allowed something bad to happen to you, but He didn't let it end your life? You may never understand why God let it happen. But He had a reason for it. Everything that happens, He has a reason for. And I hope you don't brush me off without actually thinking about it, because I have thought about what you have said.

Believing in a God and choosing to follow a religion is not "following the way the wind blows".

And how exactly does screaming at someone for asking you a simple favor show that you're "looking for the good in them"? It doesn't seem like that's what you're doing, to me.
