How Is Gender Equality Linked to Other Characteristics?
Gender equality is linked to the maximization of one’s potential, athletic ability, and
the establishment of morality. Since the phenomenon of gender equality correlates
well to this triumvirate of areas, it is crucial to the overall progress of society.
First of all, gender equality enables all the full visualization of one’s skills and
wisdom. When inequalities between genders materialize, the power and knowledge
that women are capable of contributing is typically limited. For example, let us
consider when a man and a woman apply for the same job in a company. If in fact, the
female possesses better skills, a loftier degree, and more demonstrated work
efficiency throughout her career, she still must contend with bottlenecks such as
maternity considerations. Irrespective of the talent of the woman, the employer will
undoubtedly contemplate the anticipated time off from work to conceive a child, to
take care of the infant, and to perform the household duties. As a result of these
preconceived notions, she will probably not be hired despite her sometimes higher
qualifications. While there are undoubtedly very talented male applicants, when a
female is denied a job due to these aforementioned factors, she may be forced to
apply for jobs beneath her relative skillset. On a larger scale, this incomplete
deployment of talent will inhibit societal progress owing to the fact that a mass
swatch of human talent is , not maximized. When people are hired solely on their
qualifications, only then society can exponentially develop to its maximum potential.
Secondly, gender equality helps athletics immensely. In particular, the female athleteswill benefit from this paradigm shift. An example of the negative effects of inequality
involves the Chinese male and female football teams. During the interviews, one of
the players from the Chinese male football team said that they eat sea cucumbers, a
delicacy, everyday. Meanwhile, the coach of the Chinese female football team
claimed in another interview that the players are fortunate to consume chicken noodle
soup before matches. This sharp contrast clearly indicates the enormous difference
between the treatment of male and female football players on a systematic level.
Owing to the recent winning of the Olympic gold medal, the Chinese female football
players have the highest wages among all female players all over the world. While
this is a great accomplishment, it pales in comparison to the wages of the male players.
The top annual female salaries are approximately equivalent to the earnings of the top
male players for one single week. Should gender equality become reality, the female
athletes will have a higher probability of being treated equally as the male players;
thus for the former, their lives will be markedly improved. Athletes work hard at their
crafts in order to have the opportunity to succeed in competitive matches; they should
be rewarded for dedicating their lives to their work. Thus, I posit that the term gender
equality can also promote their passion for sports too, because they can fully focus
their attention on the particular game instead of considering how to earn enough
money just to survive. I am a strong advocate for gender equality since it can vastly
decrease discrimination for female athletes.
Finally, actuation of gender equality would clarify moral dilemmas. In families, when
gender equality exists, the mother does not need to do all the domestic work. She can
still become an active member of the labor force, contributing to societal progress
through her employment. As the father assists with some of the domestic duties, hecan strike a more favorable work-life balance. For a family, I believe that women
should never be categorized as dependents or properties of men. These positive and
healthy relationships between family members enable the children to establish a
positive and correct sense about how women and men should be equal. Mental health
and communication skills will both elevate as interactions with all genders become
more fluid.
