In this era of rapidly developing technology, our lifestyles changed significantly. Technological devices such as phones and computers, after wedging themselves into our schedule, are gradually taking up more of both our working and leisure time. Some may assume that these devices are the culprit of laziness. However, electrical devices such as computers are actually beneficial in multiple ways as it is easier now for people to search for necessary data and information. Also, the prevalence of computers has made communication easier so that people can be motivated by each other’s hard work through activities such as online study groups.

The usage of computers has significantly reduced the time needed to acquire information. Gone are the days when researching on a new topic means several long days spent in the library, going through countless books in order to grasp a tiny amount of useful information. Nowadays, only with a few clicks and the whole Wikipedia is at your disposal. The powerful search engine can fish through millions of pieces of information only to present you with the most relevant ones. This has ultimately changed the traditional mode of research and greatly boosted our work efficiency. Therefore, devices such as computers has made our work easier and more efficient.

Moreover, apps such as WeChat and Facetime make it easier for people to connect and communicate with each other. Studying together online is a new popular trend among people who find it very motivating to study in a relatively tense environment. People would join the same video conference and study with their cameras on. By watching other people study, they themselves tend to stop procrastinate and focus better. Also, if anyone encounter any problems during their studying process, they can immediately raise the question to the groups and discuss the answer. In this way, everyone can benefit and learn something new. Thus, laziness can be resolved by studying together with classmates after school which would not be possible if it weren’t for the prevalence of computers.

Some people may argue that computers are very distracting. Numerous and fascinating, the online games and clickbait articles will lure people in and before you know it, precious working time is lost. However, this can be easily solved by installing apps that regulate screen time. They can also close off certain features on the computer to make sure that a distraction-free working zone is created. The apps are extremely useful for those who cannot control themselves in the face of online temptations. Therefore, instead of distracting, the computer can actually help us to focus on our work better.

In conclusion, technology does not make people lazy as it gives rise to electrical devices such as computers which give people easy access to useful information and create opportunities for people from different places to work together in order to improve work efficiency.
