I remember walking into freshman year, my first time being in a classroom after a year an a half due to a pandemic with phone warnings and threatens if we use our phones. I’m a junior in highschool now, I understand the emotions us students can feel when the teacher takes their phone. I also understand what impact it can have on us.

Phones can be a big problem with teenagers in school. I believe taking away students phones can have a good and bad impact on students. I feel the pandemic is a cause for situations like these. We as teens were at home all day, with nothing to do as zoom ended. Many of us either played video games or used our phones until we sleep due to being locked up all day.

There’s many schools that don’t allow phones at all not even during free periods, many students think of this as unfair and I do too. There can be an emergency or something students don’t feel comfortable letting a staff know and they’re not able to contact parents due to this rule. 

Ever since the COVID pandemic, Many schools use computers at school to do work instead of paper work, I do think this is a good idea to keep things more organized, however it’s defeating the purpose as students can still play games on computers and do many other things. Students may also bring their own computers and still are open to unlimited access to do anything while they’re supposed to do school work. So it is basically the same thing as if we were using a phone.  Coming from other reports,  some teachers also state phones can be a good learning tool at times for students. 

I feel schools shouldn’t ban phones but they should have restrictions. Schools have their rights to do what they feel is right for students however, I feel schools banning phones all the way is just creating sneakier students.
