As an R&B lover, it is obvious to be obsessed with H.E.R, Ella Mai, Chris Brown, and a long list of voices you can just sit & vibe. But my radar keeps rotating for new artists & music in the market. And similarly, I discovered Kara Marni's amazing vocals in the perfect blend of 70's R&B and current music style.

Her song "Trippin" was the first song I heard and it has such a lo-fi vibe to it! In the song, she talks about falling for someone and feeling alive and fearless. It will surely make you think that you are in love even though you are not (lol). On the contrary, her new song "Over You" featuring singer Toni Romiti, is all about getting over all the remnants of the relationship with the person who was once the special one. The vibe of the song is relaxing but sad.

She has often stated that she is highly inspired by artists like Minnie Riperton and Donna Summer which can be said from her songs. Out of all her songs, "Opposite" is something I mostly vibe to. The song talks about the feeling of seeing your friend constantly getting back to a relationship she is not meant to be in. Most of her songs focus on similar topics i.e empowerment & moving on from a dark past. However in songs like "2nd nature", she talks about how being comfortable around someone can make being with them addictive. She states that her Greek ethics has also helped her easily talk and write about such topics which make the lyrics more relatable.

Apart from her music, the visuals of each music video are something to talk about. In the music video of her song "Curve", she is styled with colorful costumes pictured in backgrounds with bright lighting, perfectly showcasing the tinch of retro in the song. All her music videos are beautifully planned, that describes the entire atmosphere of each song.

Listening to her songs made me kind of curious about her and so I researched a bit. This made me realize that she is just criminally underrated! Her songs reflect the amount of hard work put into it which should earn her a lot more than she is having right now.

North Londoner, Antonia Karamarni is giving the best of her artistry and creativity, making music that talks our lives. Her versatile vocals are a complete vibe. If you are someone into soul as much as I am, you must give her a listen.

The author's comments:

I am a high school girl from India who has grown up listening & singing all genres of music from her childhood. As I reached my teenage, I started having an interest in soul music and gradually fell in love with it. I started listening to Karamarni's songs a year ago and ended up having her as one of my favourite artists. As an artist, i understand how it feels to be appriciated for your hardwork and thus I want more people to discover Kara's talent and appreciate her for her music.
