Our Country’s gun laws should not be tightened.  Gun control is not the solution to violent crime, this wouldn't change. America's gun problem is so much bigger than mass shootings. Gun ownership has dramatically increased in the last 10 years, while violent crime has steadily decreased. There is NO correlation between guns and violent crime rate. We need to use our scientific view even when dealing with emotional issues. Other things cause violence and you don't see a debate if we should get rid of them.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. People kill people. When they had no guns, they used something else. We need to change the way people think about each other. Guns have saved lives for many many years. When a person has been in harm,  harassed or robbed they have guns to help protect themselves and their loved ones. Criminals are criminals guns don't shoot themselves. For example dads and mom may keep guns in a safe at home for protection to their families and keeping those people from getting guns will most definitely not help with criminal crimes. Taking guns away will be loss of freedom for us citizens. Taking our freedom with guns can cause more drama then as a country we need. 

2014 was the most year rate of people carrying guns but also the lowest gun homicides so Is getting rid of guns actually gonna effect this? "States with the largest increases in gun ownership also have the largest drops in violent crimes.” The effect on 'shall-issue'  laws on these crimes (where two or more people were killed)has been dramatic. 62 mass shootings in the United States between 1982 and 2012, 49 of the shooters used legally obtained guns. Collectively, 143 guns were possessed by the killers with about 75% obtained legally.  guns are used for self-defense 2.5 million times a year. The police cannot protect everyone all of the time. 61% of men and 56% of women surveyed by Pew Research said that stricter gun laws would "make it more difficult for people to protect their homes and families."

There have been people saying only people who are in military & other jobs requiring gun use should be the only ones allowed to own guns, more people die every year from traffic accidents (594,280 deaths) then gun shootings and you don't see debates about only nascar drivers should be the only people to drive. You’ve probably heard that gun control laws would prevent suicides but Japan & South Korea have the lowest gun rates but highest suicides. Once again guns aren't the only way to harm. Knife injuries get higher and higher every year. You will probably never hear an argument against keeping knifes.
