Think about this, starting at eighteen, a person can buy a firearm in the United States but cannot buy a White Claw or any other alcoholic beverages. 

Of course, buying alcohol and buying a weapon are two completely different things, but as my friend Henry Buckout says, “I feel the use of firearms should be more regulated, and substance should be more to the discretion of the user.” 

I agree with this statement 100 percent of the time.  At twenty-one, you can legally purchase alcohol, but then again, you’ve already been able to buy a gun for three years.  To me, it's insane that people can sell new adult weapons in their right minds without any hesitation.  I also agree with his statement because if you have a gun and your friend has an alcoholic beverage, the harm will be inflicted upon the friend who is drinking themselves. The firearm user will go hunting, do target practice, or shoot up a school, as awful as it sounds.

Although this is a heinous crime, school shootings come down to the government being terrible in the way that the testing to buy a gun is so simple to the point where you sometimes only need an ID.  In some states, getting an extensive background check isn't even in the question.  Nobody selling the weapons is given a background check to ensure the future weapon owner has not committed any crimes against humanity.  

I always think, “What if someone has a mental disorder that can cause them to think irrationally?”  

My questions were never directly answered as nobody seems to care whether you might be Bi-Polar, causing your mind to basically play ping-pong over weeks.  Nonetheless, always think about who the person purchasing a gun won't the person who wants to hunt for duck.  Not always, as some people suffer severe trauma and others are just out of their minds. 

If more extensive testing came down to simply buying firearms, there would be significantly fewer dead children in America—as a fourteen-year-old, even saying that fewer children would be dead sickens me.  

In conclusion, I believe that there should be more testing that goes into the purchase of firearms for the reasons stated above. Also, I think that people who suffer from mental trauma deserve the help they need rather than the constant put-downs on whether they're crazy or not.
