losing faith
I am starting to lose faith in the education system. Ever since the No Child Left Behind Act, schools have been more focused on testing than learning. The Pennsylvania System of School Assessment is a test for Pennyslvania school students that is supposed to measure how well students do in school. We spend so much time learning how to take the test, that we don't have time to actually learn. Although teachers try to convince us that the test doesn't matter, we know they're lying. My school didn't do well on the test and was put on a warning list last year. If the school is on the list for a certain amount of time, the state has the authority to take over the school. Because we did so poorly, our school had us take another test to assess how we would do on the assessment. This test is difficult and wastes valuable class time that could be used for learning. Today it seems that education is based on tests instead of knowledge.
