I couldn't heal because I kept pretending I wasn't hurt

      She was innocent, and she never hurt anyone. However, she didn’t know if she was kind, or stupid. She felt like her friends only stayed because she helped them with exams. She got exasperated when she couldn’t say NO. She cried every day because she was used by people who were supposed to add value to her life. That’s why she decided to discover the real meaning of kindness. During her journey, her mind was surrounded by thoughts she couldn’t figure out; Was that the right thing to do? I hope I didn’t hurt her because I apologized for not having time to do her homework!

       After years of looking for a concrete definition of kindness, she didn’t find anything useful. Instead, she lost her soul, her smile, and herself. This loss made her unbreakable, she became a new and a better human. At first, she thought she reached all her destinations. Still, her inner voice kept reminding her of her PURPOSE. She asked everyone the same question: what does kindness mean to you? And all the answers were completely different. ;

Some think that kindness is a weakness, others think it is a strength if used towards specific people. Old women told her that she shouldn’t be kind because boys like mean girls. Old men told her kindness was attractive. She got really confused, and she didn’t know what to do.

        A week later, she still couldn’t ease the fires inside of her; she didn’t see an extraordinary act of kindness done by anyone around her. But one day, she finally found her purpose. It was a Monday, and she woke up early to finish a school project. The wifi wasn’t working, so she panicked. To calm herself down, she made pancakes for breakfast, yet, she burned all of them. She then started getting ready for school on an empty stomach. She was playing music while dancing in front of the mirror. Still, she accidentally hit it, and it shattered into pieces. Her eyes reflected strong hate, her brows became as sharp as a blade, and her hands were shaking with anger. I HATE YOU, she screamed!

          Her gaze dropped on her reflection and she couldn’t recognize herself anymore. She asked herself;

             -Am I kind to myself?

             -No, I’m not!

She instantly hugged herself and apologized. But this time, she apologized for asking others what she should’ve been asking herself. She apologized for ignoring her cues. She apologized for all the things she did. She played her favorite song and started dancing on broken glass. She looked at her belly, at her thick thighs, at her reflection, and said I LOVE YOU! And that was the most breathtaking act of kindness I have ever seen in my entire life! Yes, I was there and I saw that little girl turning into a young woman; I am her reflection, I am her, and I  danced on broken glass without getting hurt!
