Cafe Hollander Review

Walking in is a wonderful sensory overload, as you see the gorgeous bar and the dimly lit array of dining areas. There are no reservations on the weekends which can make it difficult to find a seat immediately, however, to be seated, people are brought back to a different part of the restaurant. It differs every time, but I have never disliked a seating location. Once seated in the moderately lit, well-decorated eating area, one is overwhelmed with the unique lighting fixtures, random pictures, and bicycle parts lining the wall that somehow fit together to create an entirely unique aesthetic.

The menu is a high end, modernized version of the classical portfolio menus that you see in cheaper restaurants; the descriptiveness can be compared to no other. The interesting commentary on each of the entrees had me asking the server for more information, which he always knew. The menu is matte and everything was organized to be very graphically, and visually appealing. The prices are listed in a small font, taking your attention away from their sky-high numbers. My waitress was a young male, who was very well put together and extremely educated on everything they had to offer. If you’re like me and opt for the calamari as your appetizer, you’re in for a treat. It comes delivered to the table on a sophisticated, white, square platter. Just the right combination of salty and savory, the calamari is simply perfection; just don't eat any of the fried lemons, they are not as tasty as they may seem. When ordering a meal, the waiter asked me all of the traditional questions, such as how I wanted my meat cooked and what extras I wanted. He refilled my drink and eagerly brought me extra sauces. The meals here at Cafe Hollander have always been delectable and have never disappointed.

The only aspect that lets me down is the price, and if you purchase consciously then there is nothing to fret about. All in all, I enjoy the dining experience. Is it somewhere to go with poorly behaving children that are going to run around and make a ruckus, probably not, as it is an upscale restaurant, but is it a good place to go for a first, second, or fiftieth date,- sweet sixteen or sweet sixtieth? Definitely.
