Early in the morning 役に立たない woke up from the yelling of her dad telling her to come with him to fetch water for breakfast. 役に立たない didn't like her father, he always yelled or didn't approve of anything she ever wanted to do and always hit her for no reason. She got ready to walk with her father to the well which was an hour long walk from their home. The sun was shining bright and the sky was blue, it seemed like an ordinary day for 役に立たない. They were walking along the grassy path until they finally arrived at the well,  in the distance they saw the royal palace known as the White Heron Castle. Her dad was already staring down the well and yelled for 役に立たない because she was staring out at the beautiful castle. She walked over to the well and her dad pointed out to her. ¨hey look there's something shiny in the well.¨ She looked down in the well and saw a shimmer of sunlight in the water with a confused look on her face.

̈Dad that's jus-¨

̈Go in the well and look for some treasure. There's gotta be something good. Go on get in the pale and I ́ll lower you down. ̈  As she walked towards the bucket she hopped in and her dad started lowering her. The rope broke half way down and she fell on some dirt at the bottom. It was a pretty soft landing with nothing hurting her, but her legs were halfway in really cold water. She looked around and there was only one thing down there and it was a China Vintage Royal Hairpin from the looks of it. She then looked up and saw her dad leaning over the hole and was looking at her. ̈So is there lots of treasures down there or what 役に立たない?¨

She knew that he wouldn't get her out of the well if she didn't say yes, so she took one more look around and then shouted to her dad ̈Yeah! There's a whole bunch of gold and other stuff down here.¨ She saw her dad walk away from the well and she was left to sit in the cold water. About two hours pass and she is shivering cold and doesn't know what to do. She saw a figure above the well and instantly was hopeful. ̈ ̈Please help me! I've been stuck down here for so long, please get me out of here.¨

The shadowy figure looked down the well and replied ̈don ́t worry 役に立たない I ́m coming down there to help you!¨ She instantly recognized her dad's voice and watched a rope lower into the well. He barely fit in the well he almost was sideways because he couldn't fit the other way, he began to lower himself downwards towards her but suddenly, the rope broke because it was a cheap rope he made when he got home.  He fell down the well and landed neck first on a part where the water and the rock the girl was sitting on met. He broke his neck on the extremely sharp angle and instantly died. She stared at his corpse trying to figure out what just happened. She didn't want to look but she kept looking at his neck that was now snapped in two with blood pouring into the water her legs were halfway in. She sat there in disbelief, not knowing what to do. She decided to try to just go to sleep, but she didn't sleep well with her freezing and with bugs crawling all over her. It was a long, dark, and exhausting night, but she continued to have hope. Early in the morning she saw some figures and yelled at them ̈Please save me!¨

̈ ̈No worries young girl I ́ll get you out of there.¨ She saw him walk away and then come back with a sturdy rope. ̈ ̈Alright I ́m going to lower this and you need to hold on okay?¨

̈Okay.̈ At this point she had little to no energy and just accepted whoever was at the top. Maybe it was a handsome man that would take care of her, maybe it was a friend of hers; no matter who it was that she didn't have a care in her mind. She got to the top of the well and she hugged the man that saved her.

̈ ̈There there child everything is going to be alright now.¨ She heard a faint grunt behind him, she glanced behind the man and instantly turned pale. There was a cage with 3 other women and a couple of men standing by to pick it up. ̈ ̈Before we leave let me get some water from this nice well. The water here always taste amazing is really good for making food.¨ She also noticed what looked like an old red building that looked like it was used for something else long ago but was changed for the purpose of keeping the slaves there. They had a massive fence all around and a guard at what looked like the entrance of the fence.

役に立たない saw dark figure approaching her, it got closer and closer until she recognized who it was. It was her dead dad with his neck snapped. “Everythings going to be alright 役に立たない, soon you’ll be with me.”

役に立たない screamed at the sight of her dad but as soon as she blinked he was gone and it was instead a guard.

̈Silence child join the other women before you get killed I'm done with being nice to you.¨ She quickly ran to the cage and got inside. He got a couple containers of water and set them inside the cage. ̈If any of you drink it you die ̈ The men picked up the cage and brought it down the hill the well was on. They brought the cage into the building where they were keeping what looked like 20 other more slaves. He looked at one of the other slaves “Alright now that we have some water how about you make 5 soups for the men.” She made soups with the chulky red looking water for the men without hesitation in a big cauldron big enough for about 5 to 6 soups. The soups smelt rancid and didnt look that good. Each of the men took one soup each and drank it instantly each of them complaining about how it tasted like old dirty water and body odor, and about one hour later half of them where on the ground from stomach pain and the other half were throwing up. There was only one guard standing at that point. “What did you do to our soups?! Did you poison them?” He then grabbed the lady that made the soup and killed her by breaking her neck. He then came over to 役に立たない who he knew was in the well before they got the water. “You where in the well before we got that water maybe you and her planned this out!” He grabbed her and put her in a choke hold. Little did he know that the water was never poisoned, the only reason it was bad was because of all the blood in the water they didn't see.

役に立たない had little to no energy and almost accepted her fate. Suddenly she remembered about the hair pin in her pocket and so she took it out and stabbed the man that had a grab on her till he let go. But instead of stopping she kept on stabbing and stabbing until he was for sure dead. All the other guard where still in pain or throwing up but they noticed this and approached the girl. 役に立たない looked around once more and closed her eyes as she passed out from exhaustion.  When she opened her eyes all the guards were dead and once again her dad was standing before her. “役に立たない if you just end yourself now, we will be able to see each other much faster. I promise everything will be better.” She ignored this and blinked again and opened her eyes to see a samurai with blood all over his sword and a symbol on the handle that matched the one on the hairpin of the royal symbol.

“What's your name child?”

“役に立たない”

“That's not a very nice name for such a pretty girl. Hey what's that in your hand you’re holding?” 役に立たない put her hands showing him the hairpin that was coated in blood. “That's a royal hairpin you better come with me that's worth a lot.

役に立たない didn’t argue she just went with him to the palace she saw earlier the other day. She saw a lady in a nice red dress approaching them.

“Who’s this プロテクター?”

“It's a little girl I found at a slave camp with your hair pin.”

“You found my hairpin? Where was it girl?”

役に立たない explained the whole story to them both and they where both shocked by the end.

“Well if there is anything you ever want please tell me.”
役に立たない looked at the lady and said just one thing “To be loved by someone.”

“If that's what you want then you can stay with me.”

役に立たない Went off to the castle where she didnt know what would happen next in her life.
