Underneath Columbus (with thanks to Hans Christian Anderson’s “A Little Match Girl”)
Summary:
This is a short story of an Indigenous American girl. She sells candies alone in New York City. Since it's winter, also the festive time of a year, cold winter and snow make her weak, and the brightness of holiday New York City makes her alone. She struggles with selling her candies because busy New Yorkers have work and schools to go and therefore do not buy her candies. Finally, the day before Christmas, a kind and rich lady tries to help the young girl.
