A Great Defender
Summary:
Gianna "Greenie" Adams earned her nickname from using the wrong hair dye accidently, prompting her strict Baptist parents to boot her out of the house at age thirteen. She spends the summer with Great-aunt Eulalia Felix, who drank hairspray and was married seventeen times. The town, Sand Bird, California, is full of abandoned buildings which Greenie explores. She meets a young man, a hardened police officer, a delinquent missionary kid, and a wide-eyed orphan. Not one normal person lives here. The story's climax is Greenie holding a party in Sand Bird...drumroll please...the GREATEST PARTY ON EARTH!
