Almost Caught
“WEE-WOO-WEE-WOO” that’s the only thing me and my step brother heard coming down down the same street we were on. As soon as we heard the police sirens we bolted off into the woods because we knew they was coming for us.
It was the 4th of July and me and my step-brother were waiting at my mom’s house for it to get dark to pop fireworks. As hours passed by and boredom took over, we finally got the bright idea to get Black-Cats and walk down the road throwing them everywhere just to pass time. We walked up the road throwing them in yards, ant piles, etc...
On our way back to the house me and Matthew (my step brother) had a great idea to throw a couple in this lady’s mailbox. So we lit one, threw it in the mailbox and took off. It made a huge BOOM! And just like any other immature kid would do, we threw more in some more mailboxes for another hour. A box of Black-Cats and a lot a laughing later, we started heading up to the house because they were getting ready to pop fireworks.
Matthew and I were the ones to light the fireworks because it felt like we were in a movie when something explodes and the guy just walks away all casual like nothing happened. Well, an hour later not thinking much about what we had just done, we started seeing flashing blue and red lights! As the lights got closer and the and siren got louder, we bolted off to the woods behind my house. We didn’t go far, just enough to where they couldn’t see us but we could see them. The cops stayed for about 10 minutes talking to my mom. As they were driving off, we started walking back up to the house.
My mom gave Matthew and I “the look” and grounded me for a month. She started to explain to us how the police said we could’ve went to juvie if the woman who called the cops pressed charges. We’re just lucky she didn’t, and I’m glad because I’d rather be grounded than go to juvie.
