Before I share this incident with you, you need to know a little about me at that time. I was only nine years old, in third grade, and I went to Stephenson Elementary. My friend, Nick King and I loved the Wii™ and all its wonderful games. Although at the time Playstation 3® and Xbox 360 was a thing, we were not big fans. My friend did have an Xbox 360 but he only used it to play minecraft when I was at his house.

One Thursday, in March, my friend and I were talking about all the different games the we both had,
“Wait! You have Donkey Kong!?” he said.
“Yeah I do.” I said.
“What’s your favorite game? I have like all of them.” He asked.
“I’d have to say Kirby’s Return to Dream Land.” I said.
“Dude can we trade for the weekend?” He asked.

I was so excited and I could tell he was too. It was the best game ever in my opinion. When I got home that day my mom asked why I was so excited and I told her,
“I don’t know about that, what if it gets lost or he breaks it or you break it?” She asked.
“That’s not gonna happen.” I told her.
“No.” She said.
“What?” I asked.
“I won’t let you, I don’t want to take the chance.” She said.
“Cmon Mom.” I said. I was really angry so I told her fine but I had other plans.

The next day I snuck Donkey Kong in my backpack as to not tell my mom and she did not suspect anything so I went to school and my friend and I traded as planned. I got in my car and my mom asked how my day was and as usual I said good. I was feeling guilty after saying this but I didn’t say anything.

As soon as I got home I went downstairs to play the game. I probably played for hours until my mom came down to tell me dinner was ready and she noticed I was playing a game she had never seen me play before and I of course said

“I’ve always had this game.” She did not believe and began to suspect that I had proceeded with the trade. She asked if I could hand her the disk case to her so I did and she found “Nick King” written inside. My mom became furious and told me I could not watch television or play video games for two weeks.

The next day I was thinking long and hard about what I had done as my friend and I traded back and I learned that most of the time my actions can have serious consequences and that I need to obey and respect my parents.
