In the first couple years of my life I went to a private school. After 6th grade I intended to transfer to a public school, but I couldn't or else I would have been held back one grade. So instead to bypass this I homeschooled for a whole school year and then transferred to a public school. Imagine my surprise on the first day of school of how different everything was in this new place.

My first day of school was a pretty bad experience. I was the new kid in a school where everyone had known each other for two years already. I barely knew anyone who went to the school and did not know my way around. To make it worse I showed up fifteen minutes late to my first period class. I had not been in a school environment for a whole year and on top of that I had grown up in a school where rules and restrictions were enforced very strictly. Everyone in this school acted like animals. Especially the cafeteria where there were food fights at least once a month. I mean, there were no rules or regulations. I had no idea where I wanted to sit and I desperately  didn't want to sit alone, but suddenly a hand shot up and waved me over. Saved at last.

The rest of the day was still a new experience for me and a couple things went wrong. When I came to the school they accidently put me in all of the basic classes which were far under my academic level. So as you can tell most of the bad and unruly students were in these classes. I was surprised by how undisciplined these kids were and I clearly did not fit in with them, but eventually they fixed my schedule and I was put in the correct classes which meant I was a week behind in the course and had to start late. At the end of the day all the students get on the buses to go home and to no surprise I missed the bus because I didn't know which one took me home. That concludes my very weird first day of public school and It was a big change for me, but eventually I got used to the routine of school and it became really fun f=and enjoyable after some time.

The morale of this story is that even if there is a big change in your life it will always get better. You will eventually get used to the change and maybe if you're lucky you will like the change better than your previous situation. In my situation I am very grateful I am actually getting a true high school experience instead of being cooped up in a stuck up private school.

I am also grateful I was able to make some of the best friends of my life here at this school and I will never forget the first day that I met them.
