Roller Coasters at Knoebles

It was a bright sunny day. We all got up early, so we could get a shower and get everything ready.  My boyfriend’s family and I are getting ready to go to Knoebles.  Kyle and I suggested that we go get something to eat before we went down because food costs an arm and a leg. The prices for food at amusement parks is outrageous. We all decided to get something to eat at The Bus Stop in Nanticoke to fuel up for later.

After our long drive down, we finally arrived. It was a very busy day, so we did not get a very good parking spot. We had to walk in the blistering heat. Kyle and I were sweating so much that by the time we got into the park we smelled like sweaty socks. When we finally reached the front of the park to get our all day passes we realized they were too expensive. We decided to just get the roller coaster bands instead.

After we paid for our bands, the first roller coaster we wanted to ride was the Twister. When we were walking up to the line to wait, the noise from the roller coaster was very loud. Every time the roller coaster went by us, we heard a swooshing noise and the sounds of people screaming. The line was so long that we had to wait 20 minutes before we were at the end. When we looked back at the line, we noticed that it looked like a snake because it was very long and curvy.  However, it was worth the wait because when it became our turn we got into the front seat, which is where the most action is.

When we got on the ride I was super nervous because it was my first time on a roller coaster. I always felt it was unsafe because there is no seat belt. There is only a very loose bar for protection. I was always afraid that I was going to fly off the roller coaster. So, when the ride began, I started to feel like my stomach weighed a ton and that I was going to throw up. It seemed like the initial ride up to the top was never going to end because it was so slow. Once we reached the top, the coaster suddenly picked up lots of speed, like it was shot from a cannon. Suddenly, I felt weightless, and my stomach felt much better. After I realized that I was not going to fall off the ride, I started putting my hands up and screaming. After we got off the Twister I ran to the next roller coaster, which was called the Phoenix. We rode the Phoenix, and it had a steeper drop than the Twister, which I really enjoyed.

When we first got to the park I was scared to get on a roller coaster. I always felt they were unsafe. I felt like I was going to fall off and get seriously hurt. When I got on my first roller coaster, I didn’t feel good, but after I experienced it myself it turned out to be fun. In the end, I am glad I faced my fear of roller coasters because I would have missed out on something very fun and exciting.
