The Gift

Zooming through the hall, I could see it with the flickering lights and sugary candy canes hanging from it and other ornaments. Underneath all that were the presents wrapped in wrapping paper with one bow on it. But in under a few seconds it was all destroyed.

The wrapping paper was all over the floor and the bow as hidden under all the paper. I saw it the gaming station I wanted from months my parents got it for me on christmas. “Thanks mom and dad you guys are great”.

“You have been working hard” said dad as he gave me a monster bear hug.

“You decevre it for all the chores you did” added mom as she went to go make pancakes for breakfast.

“I love you guys”.

I went straight into my room and plugged in the Xbox 360 and as soon as it turned on I was mesmerised. I stayed inside for day playing it. My friends asked me to go have a snowball fight with them but i declined. after a month I still didn’t go outside even though it looked fun. It was spring when my friends asked me to play soccer with them. They said they hadn't seen me in a while and that was true. I said “ Let me finish this last mission and then i will go”. They said ok but looked disappointed as they left: it was like they didn't even know me.

A week later my father told me that he was worried. I had not been outside in a long time and a kid my age should get plenty of physical exercise and sunlight. I did not want to go outside until I had finish the whole game. As he walked away he said to me “If your mother said that you did not go outside when I get back from work I am taking your Xbox.” I paused the game and save it, then I got my shoes on and went outside. It was cold, nobody was outside. It looked like everybody in the world was gone and it was just me. I could not hear any children laughing and swing on the swings. Nobody was playing soccer or football, or even basketball. I went back inside after not finding anyone to play soccer with and went straight back to my game.

It was July 18. My parents said that they were going somewhere special and if i wanted to come. I said “what so special about this place.”

“Come and see you might enjoy yourself” Said my mom as she was trying to find her hairbrush. I thought about all the special place we have been. In my mind they didn't seem that special so i said not.

“Your loss … don’t say we didn't tell you, ” said my sister as my whole family walked out the door except for me.
My parents didn’t get home until 7:00 at night, when they walked in they had candy bags cake and party hats. I asked them “ where were you guys and where did you get that stuff.” I said.

“we told you it was somewhere special.” My dad said as he ate some cake.

“your cousin had a birthday party and it was really fun.” Said my mother while eating a piece of chocolate.

“It was really fun, there was a bouncy house, games , and a clown. You should of been there.”  my sister said and gave me a candy bag.

The party sounded fun and I missed it all for a video game. I was sad, my cousin is very nice to me and love having me there- I was the worst person in the world. I knew that I had to stop playing the xbox and go out into the real world. When my friends came over the next day they asked me to play soccer with them, the were surprised when I said yes to their offer. We kept scoring and scoring. we didn’t go home until 8:00 that night. I had less fun playing the Xbox than my cousin's birthday party;Even if they are eight years old.
