Chapter 1: The Start

The Camping Trip

The day had come. My dad, my mom, my sister and I were all packed up and ready to go. My sister and I were jumping for joy. We were going CAMPING! We drove two hours, then we met my grandparents, cousins, ages, 8, 10, and 11, and friends, ages, 13, and 15, at an In-N-Out restaurant. I had never been to an In-N-Out before, since I was only six.
We were back on the road, and happily singing, and car dancing. We watched Shark Tale and a Barbie movie. Those were my favorite movies to watch. For the last hour, my sister and I took a nap. At nine-o'clock we arrived at beautiful Pinecrest Lake. My parents helped set up the tent for our family, and carefully transferred us from the car to the tent.

This is the start to what happened to me the next day.

Chapter 2: It Happened

The next morning we got up, and couldn’t figure how to get out of the tent. My sister and I had never been in a tent before, so we had to wake my dad. I learned how to fish again and caught my second fish(the first in Montana)!
After fishing for awhile, with no additional luck, we went back to our campsite, took a nap, and had lunch. Since I brought my bike, my cousins and I went biking around the campground. There was a steep hill right outside our campsite. My cousins saw the hill and went fast skidding around the corner and out of sight. When I caught up to them I asked, ” Could you teach me how to skid?” They taught me how to skid on a straight away first, and I did it! Skidding is when you slam on your brakes really hard and fast. I tried to skid on the hill and it actually worked! So, I kept going down the hill, and then it happened...
My front wheel got caught sideways and I flew over the handlebars, landing on my chin and went skidding down the hill. Then of course my bike had to land on me when I finally came to a stop. I was all tangled up. My cousins untangled the bike from me, picked me up, and carried me to our campsite. My mom got me a cup for the blood. As I was screaming and crying, the cup of blood filled up. The next door camper looked out her door and ran over to me. She was a nurse. She said to get a different cup or pour out the cup I was using. She went back to her camper and came back with gauze. She told me to apply pressure and like every adult, she told me it was going to be ok.

This is when the accident happened.

Chapter 3: The Hospital

She told my parents that I needed to go to a hospital. But since we were camping in the mountains, the nearest hospital was one hour away! So, right away my parents and I hopped into the car and took off on the road. It was getting dark and I stopped crying but instead, sleeping. At least tried to sleep. The lady that helped me told my mom not to let me sleep. So, every time I was drifting off to sleep, my mom would shake me awake. And every time she did that, I would scream in pain.
We got to the hospital not safe or sound. As we checked in, and waited in the waiting room I started to get woozy. The lady called my name, and we walked into a room. She gave me a shot and I felt not as woozy. As I was waiting for the nurse, my mom and I played row sham bow. I asked my mom, ”When is the doctor going to come?” She replied, ”Soon, hang in there bud.” As we were playing row sham bow, a nurse came in with a patient and noticed that we were in that room. As I was still bleeding, the nurse said, ”Oh my gosh, we forgot that you were still here! We will get someone in here as soon as possible!” A few minutes later a doctor came in with a needle and some thread. As my mom said, ”Are stitches really necessary?” She said yes and got to work. She first cleaned all the dried blood off of me and then threaded the needle. I had seen a needle just like this when my mom had sewed at home. My mind filled with thoughts of how bad of a scrape it had been. As I reached up to touch the injury the nurse slapped my hand down and said,”Don’t do that. Do you want to make the injury even worse?” I said,”No, but I just wanted to see how bad it is.” She replied,”It’s bad alright.” So, she went on with the stitches. My mother said,”No numbing shot?” The nurse replied,”He does not need it, he is already in so much pain he won’t even notice.” Then she said,”Are you ready for this? The stitches will only take a second, you won’t even feel it.” And she was right. All I saw and remember is her tying a knot and her saying,”All done with the seven stitches.” And the next thing I knew it was all over and there was a band-aid on my chin and special ointment in my hand.

Chapter 4: The End

When we left the hospital, you couldn’t tell that anything was wrong but a little band-aid on my chin. As we drove back to our campsite I was allowed to sleep. I woke up the next day and it was already lunch time! As I got out of the tent my friends, cousins, and family rushed over to me and made sure I was ok. I got some lunch, and all day I got bugged with questions like,”Are you ok?” ”Do you need help with that?” Most of the answers were no but some of them insisted. That same day, was the horseback riding day, that we had signed up for. I was so excited to go but my mom told me I couldn’t go because of my chin. So, my mom and I stayed at the campsite and played some card games. I felt so left out. I started to cry and told my mom,”Why does this have to happen to me?.” I sobbed for awhile and then my mom replied,”You were just the unlucky one.” I cried once more then stopped when our family and friends came back.
The same day was leaving day. I helped pack up, and hopped into the car after saying all my goodbyes. As we made our descent down the hill we found a book on knock-knock jokes and riddles. As my sister was reading them to me I was laughing hysterically at this particular riddle: What happened to a dog when it walked outside and it was raining………… IT GOT WET!!! I could not get over that one for awhile (even now). We were driving down the hill when I suddenly just fell asleep. When I woke up we were just pulling into our houses drive way. I looked around and everybody was sleeping except for me and my dad, who was driving. My dad was playing soft jazz music from the radio. And was the best way to end the worst camping experience in my entire life.
