My adventure in Iowa
Iowa
All I saw were rows and rows of corn fields going in a colorless blur through my frosted window. What has my family dragged me into? I closed my eyes hoping this was a dream, and I would wake up...anywhere but here.
“Grace, Grace wake up!” my mom’s voice rings in my ear. “We are here!” The sound of her false excitement made me feel sick to my stomach, as reality hit me once more. I tried to keep my eyes closed for as long as possible, as if that would make this all go away. The sun eventually forced them open and staring back at me was a two story brick house enveloped with trees. I stepped my foot for the first time on the grounds of Des Moines Iowa, ready to face the worst and best mistake of my life. My family and I moved from Mexico in 2010 my sixth grade year of school, to a state most famous for their corn. I was as prepared as I could possibly be to face my new life her.
