Some may think my life is easy and enjoyable, but they do not know the truth behind my point of view. Everyone in life has struggles, but mine include problems that mean more to me than a simple problem with an easy solution. On an everyday basis, I think of family health, financial problems, and college goal achievements.

About two years ago my father almost had a stroke because of his high blood pressure. Seeing him in the ICU for three days broke my heart. All I could think of was what I would do without my dad. Since then there is not a day that I regret all the mean words and rude attitude I have towards him. Once in a while, I have to watch what I say to him so his blood pressure will not rise, so I will not have to go through the pain of seeing him sick again.

Currently my dad is the only one of my parents employed. He owns his own mechanic shop and works with my brother. Whenever I need money for school or for my clothes or to go out, I have the regret in the back of my mind about asking my dad. Every day I thank GOD that I have such a hardworking dad that can support our family and be with us through thick and thin.

In my family, both of my siblings have had children at a young age and one of my siblings did not like what she majored in college, and the other did not attend at all. Since both of my siblings are not happy with their decisions. But I want to make my family proud and prove to them and others who doubted me wrong. My plans are to attend either Wichita State University, Kansas State University or the University of Oklahoma and be a double major in Psychology and Sociology with my doctorate in Psychology. After college, I would like to open my own therapy office and focus on Sports Therapy or Couples Therapy.

Aristotle Onassis once said “It is during our darkest hour that we must focus to see the light.” So, even though there are struggles in life, I am someone who proves that I can live with a smile on my face and conquer all obstacles that come through my path.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
-Philippians 4:13
