The Iron Lady
In a world of seven billion people, throughout their lifetime, the average person meets from ten thousand to two hundred thousand people. This data depends on a variety of factors, including the person’s location, what they do for a living, and how they have been raised. However, out of this great quantity, only few truly impact and inspire a person’s life. In a country of eight million people, I came across one special person who influenced my life greatly.
Emmna Nuñez was born in a very humble home. Her family was poor; they barely had any money to feed Emma and her siblings. She went to school but dropped out in the third grade because she needed to support her family somehow. With bare feet, she moved to the country’s industrial capital, San Pedro Sula, and began to work and gain some experience; the money she earned, she sent to her family. As the years progressed, she discovered she had a lot of ambition in her, and she started to develop it gradually, until she eventually opened her own little shop. Times were hard, but nothing could beat Emma. The challenges life put her through simply made her stronger and more capable. She continued with her diligence and was able to make enough money to support her family by herself. This great woman got married and had a family of her own, to which she gave a life she could not have as a child. She built them a home, fed them, bought them shoes, and kept on working.
This great woman happens to be my grandmother, and she truly is the hero of the family. Having her around is a magnificent opportunity not many have. She constantly travels to Panama to the Free Zone and brings new products to her store, which expanded dramatically through the years. On one of those trips, she took me with the intention I learn how to be independent and idealistic. On that trip, I made my first investment in pet gear. As soon as I returned home, I began to sell the products to vets all over the city. It went so well I traveled with my grandma more regularly and continued to bring more and more items.
Without my grandmother and her lectures, I would not have been able to be the person I am today. She helped me become independent by encouraging me to launch my own small business. I believe one of the greatest virtues a person can have is independence; it makes one capable of doing anything on their own. I also learned the basics of what veterinarians do because whenever I went to visit the clinics, I got more involved with the vets and learned a lot about animals. I was invited to presence the operation of several animals and helped the vet by passing her the tools she needed. With all of these experiences, I grew fond about the occupation of a veterinarian, until it became almost like an obsession; and it has persisted through the years.
My grandma is not only my family’s hero; she is my personal favorite hero. She inspires me everyday to want to become a better person, to laugh a little louder, be a little happier, and work a little harder. To be the granddaughter of a person who has the power of influencing people and changing their lives positively is the greatest blessing God has ever given me. It helps me to understand to never give up. Whether it is in school out side of school. Or just in my day to day life all together.
In conclusion, my grandmother is my biggest blessing and also inspirational women in the world. I would not have been able to be the person I am today. She has been the one special person who influenced my life greatly. She helped me become independent by encouraging me to launch my own small business .The challenges life put her through simply made her stronger and more capable. One of her favorite quotes are “ Never let anything back you down”. God has give the opportunity to encourage my self to learn the lessons in life , reflecting my grandmothers experience. Furthermore, I believe that I do not forget her teaching forever, and I feel very happy to honor my grandmother with this essay.
