My First Ice Skating Trip
At that moment I had two choices. Keep moving with my right hand to try to pick it up., or get up with my left hand .Only a split second to choose, not sure what to choose . Everything is happening so fast, if I move my left hand will my right hand still be on the ice? Then I remember that in church on Saturday the preacher said, “Pray when you need help God will be there for you.” So that’s exactly what I did I prayed that I will be able to get up. I got up with my left hand quickly and successfully.
Only eight years old not knowing what was before me or what I was doing I’m thinking I’m going to be like the cartoons on TV I thought I was going to be a pro. I was wrong as soon as I stepped on ice I slipped and fell on my butt and did the 5g (if you don’t know what that is go on YouTube and look up 5g). One second later I see 10 strangers surrounding me 2 of them were ice-skating guards. 5 of them asked me in unison, “Are you okay?” I responded “yea I’m fine”. The guards helped me up. At that moment I realized ice-skating isn't as easy as it looks.
¼ of the way on ice ring I saw my brother Emmanuel. I screamed his name on the top of my lungs. When Emmanuel arrived he started talking all I see is fog coming out of his mouth. He also kept rubbing his hands together to make friction. I’m guessing he was cold. I asked him shivering “cccan yyyou help me acccross the ringgg.” He seemed upset when he was helping me, I wondered why? Then realized he had to stop playing with his friends to help me. I felt bad, so I said ¾ of the way “you can go play with your friends now.” “Are you sure?” he asked. “Yea” I said. I made it the rest of the way successfully. I went inside to warm up because I was freezing to death. I thought my toes and fingers went a part of my body anymore. After I warmed up I went back to the ring. Every time I let go of the ring I fell down. Then one time I fell, I couldn’t get up my right hand was numb. I was scared for my life. Someone was coming my way and they looked like they couldn't control themselves. At that moment I wished I asked Emmanuel to teach how to skate as well as help me to get off the ring.
