What if these were your last moments?
Today in my culinary class there was a “Hard Lockdown”, to which we took extreme seriousness. Everyone wanted to know what was going on and no one could tell us. There were people trying to reach their parents with the hope that maybe they could find out for us. Many of us were discussing what we would do if someone did try to come in and hurt us. It is well known that we have the most knives in the building and there are a lot of boys in our class. Although, what affected me the most was the fact that if someone came in and tried to hurt one of my friends I wouldn’t know what to do. I don’t have enough confidence in my own strength to try to stand up to someone who is armed, but what if reasoning with them wasn’t enough? What if these were your last moments? Surrounded by your peers, scared and not confident enough to fight to the death, but strong enough to keep calm.
