The Game
The cheering fans, the booing opponent
I block them all out of my mind
The focus is the ice, the puck, and the net
Time is running out
Can you feel the tension of the players?
Can you hear the screaming coaches?
The pressure of the outcome pushing down on us
And we don’t want to face the anger if it all goes wrong
The whistle that blows, the arguments of the call
My only thoughts are let’s just play
And never lose our focus of the ice, the puck, and the net.
And never take our eyes off the prize
The win that will cause the stands to erupt and the building to shake
The win that will bring the smiles to our faces and put the other team in silence
So we skate until the end and use the energy
And we just play this game of thrills and shrills.
